System Log Message Format

System log messages can contain up to 80 characters and a percent sign (%), which follows the optional
sequenc e number or timestam p informat ion, if configured . Messa ges are display ed in this form at:
seq no:timestamp: %facility-severity-MNEMONIC:description
The part of the message preceding the percent sign depe nds on the settin g of the service
sequence-numbers, service timestamp s log dateti me, service timestamps log datetime [ localtime]
[msec] [show-timezone], or service timestamps log uptime global configurati on comm and.

Date and time of the message or event. This information appears only if the service timestamps
log [datetime | log] glo ba l c onfigurati on com mand i s configu red.

facility The facility t o which t he message re fers (fo r example, SNMP, SYS, and so fort h). For a list of

severity Single-dig it co de from 0 to 7 t hat is t he severity of the messa ge. For a de scri pti on of th e severity
