Chapter 6 Clustering Swit ches Creating a Switch Cluster
These abbreviations are appended to the switch host names in the Standby Command Group list to sho w
their eligibility or status in the cluster standby group:
•AC—Active command switch
•SC—Standby comman d switch
•PC—Member of t he cluster standby grou p but not the standby comm and switch
•HC—Candidate swi tch t hat can be ad ded t o t he c lust er sta nd by group
•CC—Comman d sw itc h whe n HSRP i s disa bled
You must enter a virtual IP address for the cluster standby group. This address must be in the same subnet
as the IP addresses of the switch. The group number must be unique within the IP subnet. It can be from
0 to 255, a nd t he defau lt is 0. T he g roup na me can h ave up to 3 1 ch arac t ers.
The Stan dby Command Con figuration win dow uses the default values for the preempt and name
comm ands that you have set by using th e CLI. If you use this window to crea te the HS RP group, a ll
switch es in the g rou p have the preempt command enabled. You must also provide a name for the group.
Note The HSRP standby hold time interval should be greater than or equal to 3 times the hello time interval.
The de fault HSRP st andby ho ld time in terval is 10 se co nds. T he d efault HSRP s ta ndby h ello ti me
