Chapter 23 Configuring System Message Logging
Display ing the Loggi ng Configuration
To remo ve a sysl og server , use the no logging host global configuration command, and specify the syslog
server IP address. To disable logging to syslog servers, enter the no logging trap global co nfigurat ion
command.
Table 23-4 lists the UNIX system facilities supported by the Cisco IOS software. For more information
about these facilities, consult the operators manual for yo ur UNIX operati ng system.

Displaying the Log ging Configuration

To display the logging configuration and the contents of the log buf fer, use the show logging priv i l ege d
EXEC command. For information about the fields in this display, refer to the Cisco IO S Co nfiguration
Funda mentals Comm and Reference for Rel ease 12.1.
Step 4 logging facility facility-type Configure the syslog facility. See Tab le 23-4 on pag e 23-12 fo r
facility-type keywords.
The default is local7.
Step 5 end Return to privileged EXEC mode.
Step 6 show running-config Verify your entries.
Step 7 copy running-config startup-config (Optional) Save your entries in the configuration file.
