Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to configure a specific interface from which the IP
source address is to be t aken:
The specif ied interface is used for the source address for all packets sent to all destinations. If a source address
is to be used for a specific association, use the source keyword in the ntp peer or nt p server global
configuration command as described in the Configuring NTP Associations section on page 7-38.

Displaying the NTP Configuration

You can use two privileged EX EC comman ds to displ ay NTP inform ation:
show ntp associations [detail]
show ntp status

Configuring Time and Date Manually

If no other source of time is available, yo u can manually configure th e time and date after the system is
restarted. The time remains accurate until the next system restart. We recommend that you use manual
configurati on only as a last re sort. If you have an out side source to w hic h th e switc h ca n synchr oniz e ,
you do not need to manually set the system clock.

Command Purpose
Step 1 configure terminal Enter globa l configurati on mode.
Step 2 ntp source type num be r Specify the interface type and number from which the IP source address
is tak en .
By default, the source ad dress is determined by the outgoing interface.
Step 3 end Return to p rivileged EXEC mode.
Step 4 show running-config Verify your e ntri es.
Step 5 copy running-config startup-config (Optiona l) Save your entries in the co nfigurati on file.
