Chapter 14 Co n figuring VLANs
Displaying VLANs
To delete an extended-range VLAN, use the no vlan vlan-id glob al configura tion co mman d.
The procedure for assigning static-access ports to an extended-range VLAN is the same as for
normal-range VLANs. See the Assigning Static-Access Ports to a VLAN secti on on page 14-1 1.
This example shows how to create a new exten ded-r ange VLAN (w hen th e EI is in stal led) w ith all
default characteristics, enter config-vlan mode, and save the new VLAN in the switch startup
configurat ion file:
Switch(config)# vtp mode transparent
Switch(config)# vlan 2000
Switch(config-vlan)# end
Switch# copy running-config startup config

Displaying VLANs

Use the show vlan privileged EXEC command to display a list of all VLANs on the switch, including
extended -range V LANs. Th e displa y includ es VLAN status, port s, and configurat ion inf ormati on. To
view normal-r an ge V LAN s in t he V LA N da tab ase ( 1 to 1 005, ) use the show VL AN configur ation
command (acce ssed by en terin g the vlan database privileged EXEC command). For a list of the VLAN
IDs on the switch, use the show runn ing-conf ig vlan privileged EXEC command, optionally entering a
VLAN ID range.
Table 14-3 lists the commands for monitoring VLANs.
