Configuring VMPS
Reconfirming VLAN Memberships
Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to confirm the dynamic port VLAN membership
assignments that the switch has received from the VMPS:
Changing the Reconfirmation Interval
VMPS cl ients per iodicall y reconfirm the VLAN member ship in format ion rec eiv ed from the VMPS. You

If you are configuring a member switch in a cluster, this parameter must be equal to or greater than the
reconf irmatio n settin g on the command sw itch. You m ust also f irst us e the rcommand pri v ile ge d EXE C
command to log into the member switch.
Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow th ese steps to change the reconfirmation interval:
To return the switch to its default setting, use the no vmps reconfirm global con figuration co mman d.
Changing the Retry Count
Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow th ese steps to change the number of times that the switch
attempts to contact the VMPS before querying the next server:
Command Purpose
Step 1 vmps reconfirm Reconfirm dy na mic port VL AN me mber ship .
Step 2 show vmps Verify the dynamic VLAN reconfirmation status.
Command Purpose
Step 1 configure terminal Enter gl obal c on figuratio n mod e.
Step 2 vmps reconfirm minutes Ente r the numbe r of minut es betwee n reconfirmat ions of the dyna mic
VLAN memb ership.
Ente r a num be r fro m 1 t o 12 0. T he de fau lt is 60 m in utes .
Step 3 end Retur n to privileged EXEC mode .
Step 4 show vmps Ve rify the dyna mic VL AN reco nfirmation stat us in the Re c o nfir m
Interval field of the disp lay.
Step 5 copy running-config startup-config (Optio nal) Save you r entries in the con figuration file.
Command Purpose

The retry range is from 1 to 10; the default is 3.
Step 3 end Retur n to privileged EXEC mode .
Step 4 show vmps Ve rify your en try in the Server Re try Cou nt field of the display.
Step 5 copy running-config startup-config (Optio nal) Save you r entries in the con figuration file.
