DEFINITION
Defines the number of bit errors the port can incur before a signal degrade occurs and generates an alarm message and probably protection switch.
Not configurable on RIC. This is determined by the dipswitch on the SC EIM, which sets the shelf type. Can be SONET, Synchronous Optical Network, US, or Synchronous Digital Hierarchy, European standard for transporting data over fiber.
