Administration Commands

define_sdlc_port

INT_CLOCK

Specify this value if the adapter supplies data clocking signals to the modem (internal clocking).

Do not specify this value if data the modem supplies data clocking (external clocking) or if the underlying SDLC hardware supports only external clocking.

DMA

Specify this value to use DMA to transfer data to and from the communications card.

Do not specify this value if you do not want to use DMA to transfer data to and from the communications card.

opt2

Port options flag 2. Set this parameter to NONE to specify no options, or combine one or more of the following options with a + character to specify a value:

DSRS

Specify this value to use DSRS (data signal rate select) to indicate to the modem to switch to a fallback (slower) speed. Some older modems use DSRS, but it is unlikely that you will need to use this option.

Do not specify this value if your modem does not uses DSRS.

SEL_STANDBY

Specify this value to select Standby On.

Do not specify this value to use Standby Off.

MONITOR_DCD

Specify this value to monitor data carrier detect (DCD), an indication from the modem that shows that the modem can sense a carrier signal from the remote modem. Carrier loss can be an early indication of link failure, but transient loss can occur during normal operation. Carrier loss is not normally considered an error condition.

Do not specify this value if you do not want to monitor DCD.

STREAM

Specify this value to stream flags on the line. When using constant carrier (4-wire), some systems may require the line to carry a sequence of flag bytes when no data is being sent, rather than going into an idle state.

Do not specify this value if you do not need to stream flags on the line.

AUTO_DIAL

Specify this value for a switched outgoing link, to send the dial data (specified by the hmod_data parameter in the LS definition) and instruct the modem to dial.

Do not specify this value if auto-dial is not required.

WAIT_FOR_RING_IND

Specify this value for a switched outgoing link, to instruct the modem to answer when the ring indicator is detected.

Do not specify this value if the modem should not wait for the ring indicator.

linesp

The line speed for the line used on this port, for example 2400 for a 2400 baud line. This parameter is ignored if clocking is specified as external in the opt1 parameter, or if the underlying SDLC hardware supports only external clocking.
