Line Ownership

Considerations and Constraints

If you do not use line Ownership to asign owners to lines for which Group Call Distribution (#206) Setting 3—VMS Line Cover was used to assign Voice Mail coverage, all calls on those lines will be directed to the General Mailbox for Automated Attendant 1.

If you change Group Call Distribution (#206) to Setting 2—Not Assigned for a line on the communications system, remember to deallocate Line Ownership for that line on the mail system.

A Transfer-Only mailbox cannot be a line owner.

Related Communications System Features

Line Ownership should be used only for lines for which Group Call Distribution (#206) Setting 3—VMS Line Cover was used to assign Voice Mail coverage.

Do not use Line Ownership with Line Coverage Extension (#208) or with Group Call Distribution (#206) Setting 1—Assigned.

Related Mail System Features

Calls that come in on a line that has an assigned owner get the treatment associated with the mailbox type of the owner. For more information about mailbox types, see

Mailbox.
