Installation Guide fo r de tails.) A supply belo ng s t o one of two groups: A 1A3 or B1B3. An 8-bit
hexadecimal number id en tifies an individual supp ly. Th e val ue for Option 6 can be the sum of any
combination of hexadecimal numbers. For example, the value for requiring A1 and B1 is:
0x01 + 0x10 = 0x11
Required Fan Trays
Option 7 lets you specify required fan trays for the purpose of alarm generation. You can specify either
or both fan trays as required. The value is an 8-bit hexadecimal number.
Note The switch requires two fan t rays fo r coolin g purpo ses re gardle ss of the number you speci fy for ala rm
purposes with cnfndparms.
0x0 means no fan try requirement. (The enclosure still must have at least one fan tray for cooling.
0x01 refers to the bottom fan tray.
0x02 refers to the top fan tra y.
To require top and bottom fan trays, f or ex am p le, en te r a hexadecimal 3 for the option value:
0x01+0x02=0x03
Option Values
This scheme allows substant ial f lex ib ility for the numeric value of cu rren t and future options. This
command supports various number f o rm ats as a part of its flexibility, as follows:
An 8-bit decimal has the range 0255.
A 16-bit decimal number has the range 065535.
A 32-bit decimal number has the range 04294962795.
An 8-bit hexadecimal number has the range 00xff.
A 16-bit hexadecimal number has the range 00xffff
A 32-bit hexadecimal number has the range 00xffffffff.
Each option description states the type of number involved and the actual range for that option.
Alternatively, the description states if th e c ho ic e i s yes to enable of no to disable.
