3CiscoUCS Manager verifies the model numbers

serviceprofiles that include this policy.If the

modelnumbers and vendor match a firmware

versionin thepolicy, Cisco UCS Manager

rebootsthe server and updates the firmware.

Amanual reboot of the servers does not cause Cisco

UCSManager to apply the firmware package, nor

doesit cancel the scheduled maintenance activities.

Creating a Host Firmware Package

Youcan include more than one type of firmware in the same host firmware package. For example, a host

firmwarepackage can include both BIOSfirmware and storagecontroller firmware or adapter firmware

fortwo differentmodels of adapters. However, you can only have one firmware version with the same

type,vendor, and model number. The system recognizes which firmware version is required for an endpoint

andignores allother firmware versions.

Before You Begin

Ensurethat the appropriate firmware has been downloaded to the fabric interconnect.

Procedure

Step 1 Inthe Navigation pane, clickthe Servers tab.

Step 2 Onthe Servers tab, expand Servers >Policies.

Step 3 Expandthe node for theorganization where you want to create the policy.

Ifthe system does not includemultitenancy, expand the root node.

Step 4 Right-clickHost Firmware Packages and choose Create Package.

Step 5 Inthe Create Host Firmware Package dialog box, enter a unique name and description for the package.
