Fault Summary Area
TheFault Summary area displays in the upper left of Cisco UCS Manager GUI. This area displays a summary
ofall faults that have occurredin the Cisco UCS domain.
Eachtype of fault is represented by a different icon. The number below each icon indicates how many faults
ofthat type have occurred in the system. If you click an icon, Cisco UCS Manager GUI opens the Faults tab
inthe Work area and displays the details of all faults of that type.
Thefollowing table describes the types of faults each icon in the Fault Summary area represents:

Criticalproblems exist withone or more components. These issues should be
researchedand fixed immediately.
CriticalAlarms
Seriousproblems exist with oneor morecomponents. These issues shouldbe
researchedand fixed immediately.
MajorAlarms
Problemsexist with one or more components that might adversely affectsystem
performance.These issues should be researched and fixed as soon as possible before
theybecome majoror criticalissues.
MinorAlarms
Potentialproblems exist with oneor morecomponents that mightadversely affect
systemperformance if theyare allowed to continue.These issues shouldbe
researchedand fixed as soon as possible before the problem grows worse.
WarningAlarms
Ifyou only want to seefaults for a specific object, navigate to that object and then review the Faults tab
forthat object.
Tip
Navigation PaneTheNavigation pane displays on theleft side of Cisco UCS Manager GUI belowthe Fault Summary area.
Thispane provides centralized navigation to all equipment and other components in the Cisco UCS domain.
Whenyou selecta component inthe Navigation pane, the object displays in the Work area.
TheNavigation pane has five tabs. Each tab includes the following elements:
• A Filter combo box that you can use to filter the navigation tree to view all nodes or only one node.
• An expandable navigation tree that you can use to access all components on that tab. An icon next to an
folderindicates that the node or folder has subcomponents.
Equipment Tab
Thistab contains a basic inventory of the equipment in the Cisco UCS domain. A system or server administrator
canuse this tab to access and manage the chassis, fabric interconnects, servers, and other hardware. A red,
orange,or yellowrectangle around a devicename indicate that the device has afault.
