Console Redirection Settings
DescriptionName
Allowsa serial port to be used for console redirection during
POSTand BIOS booting. After the BIOS hasbooted and the
operatingsystem is responsible for the server, console redirection
isirrelevant and has no effect. This can be one of the following:
•disabled—Noconsole redirection occurs duringPOST.
•serial-port-a—Enablesserial port A for console
redirectionduring POST. This option is valid for blade
serversand rack-mountservers.
•serial-port-b—Enablesserial port B for console
redirectionand allows itto performserver management
tasks.This option isonly validfor rack-mountservers.
•PlatformDefault—The BIOS uses the value for this
attributecontained in the BIOS defaults for the server type
andvendor.
Ifyou enable this option, you also disable the display
ofthe QuietBoot logo screenduring POST.
Note
ConsoleRedirection
Whethera handshake protocol is used for flow control. Request
toSend / Clear to Send (RTS/CTS) helps to reduce frame
collisionsthat can be introduced by a hidden terminal problem.
Thiscan be one of the following:
•none—Noflow controlis used.
•rts-cts—RTS/CTSis used for flow control.
•PlatformDefault—The BIOS uses the value for this
attributecontained in the BIOS defaults for the server type
andvendor.
Thissetting must match the settingon the remote
terminalapplication.
