• If a trafficmonitoring session was configured on a dynamic vNIC under a release earlier than Cisco
UCSManager Release 2.0, you must reconfigure the traffic monitoring session after upgrading.
Trafficmonitoring can impose a significant load on your system resources. To minimize the load, select
sourcesthat carry as little unwanted traffic as possible and disable traffic monitoring when it is not needed.

Creating an Ethernet Traffic Monitoring SessionProcedure
Step 1 Inthe Navigation pane, clickthe LAN tab.
Step 2 Onthe LAN tab, expand LAN >Traffic Monitoring Sessions >Fabric_Interconnect_Name.
Step 3 Right-click Fabric_Interconnect_Name andchoose Create Traffic Monitoring Session.
Step 4 Inthe Create Traffic Monitoring Session dialog box, complete the following fields:
DescriptionName
Thename of thetraffic monitoring session.
Thisname can be between 1 and 16 alphanumeric characters. You
cannotuse spaces or any special characters other than - (hyphen), _
(underscore),: (colon), and . (period), and you cannot change this name
afterthe object has beensaved.
Namefield
Whethertraffic will be monitored for the physical port selectedin the
Destinationfield. This can be one of the following:
•Enabled—CiscoUCS begins monitoring the port activity as soon
assome sourcecomponents are added tothe session.
•Disabled—CiscoUCS does not monitor the portactivity.
AdminState field
Selectthe physicalport whose communicationtraffic you want to
monitorfrom thenavigation tree.
Destinationdrop-down list
Thedata transfer rate ofthe portchannel to bemonitored. This can be
oneof thefollowing:
•1Gbps
•10Gbps
•20Gbps
•40Gbps
