Server Inheritance Policy
Thispolicy is invoked during the server discovery process to create a service profile for the server. All service
profilescreated from this policy use the values burned into the blade at manufacture. The policy performs the
following:
• Analyzes the inventory of the server
• If configured, assigns the server to the selected organization
• Creates a service profile for the server with the identity burned into the server at manufacture
Youcannot migrate a service profile created with this policy to another server.
Server Pool PolicyThispolicy is invoked during the server discovery process. It determines what happens if server pool policy
qualificationsmatch a server to the target pool specified in the policy.
Ifa serverqualifies for more than one pool and thosepools have server pool policies, the server is added to
allthose pools.
Server Pool Policy QualificationsThispolicy qualifies servers based on the inventory of a server conducted during the discovery process. The
qualificationsare individual rules that you configure in the policy to determine whether a server meets the
selectioncriteria. For example, you can create a rule that specifies the minimum memory capacity for servers
ina datacenter pool.
Qualificationsare used in other policies to place servers, not just by the server pool policies. For example, if
aserver meets the criteria in a qualification policy, it can be added to one or more server pools or have a
serviceprofile automaticallyassociated with it.
Youcan use the server pool policy qualifications to qualify servers according to the following criteria:
• Adapter type
• Chassis location
• Memory type and configuration
• Power group
• CPU cores, type, and configuration
• Storage configuration and capacity
• Server model
Dependingupon the implementation, you may configure several policies with server pool policy qualifications
includingthe following:
• Autoconfiguration policy
• Chassis discovery policy
• Server discovery policy
