Step 3 (Optional) If youchose Specify Manually, do the following:
a) Onthe appropriate tab in the vNIC/vHBA table, click a vNICor vHBA.
b) Inthe Virtual Host Interface table, click a vCon row and if necessary,choose one of the following values
fromthe Selection Preference column:
All—Allconfigured vNICs and vHBAs can be assigned to the vCon, whether they are explicitly
assignedto it, unassigned,or dynamic.
AssignedOnly—vNICs and vHBAs must be explicitly assigned to the vCon. You can assign them
explicitlythrough the service profile or the properties of the vNIC or vHBA.
ExcludeDynamic—Dynamic vNICs and vHBAs cannot be assigned to the vCon. The vCon can be
usedfor allstatic vNICs and vHBAs, whether they are unassigned or explicitly assigned to it.
ExcludeUnassigned—Unassigned vNICs and vHBAs cannot be assigned to the vCon. The vCon
canbe used for dynamic vNICs and vHBAs and for static vNICs and vHBAs that are explicitly
assignedto it.
c) ClickAssign.
Ifyou need to undo an assignment, click Remove.
d) RepeatSteps a through c until you have assigned all vNICs and vHBAs.
e) Whenyou havespecified all vNIC and vHBA placements, continue with Step 5.
Step 4 Ifyou clickedCreate Placement Policy, do the following in the Create Placement Policy dialog box:
a) Inthe Name field, enter a unique name for the placement policy.
Thisname can be between 1 and 16 alphanumeric characters. You cannot use spaces or any special
charactersother than - (hyphen), _ (underscore), : (colon), and . (period), and you cannot change this name
afterthe object has beensaved.
