Configuring the Fault Collection Policy
Procedure
Step 1 Inthe Navigation pane, clickthe Admin tab.
Step 2 Onthe Admin tab, expand All >Faults, Events,and Audit Log.
Step 3 ClickSettings.
Step 4 Inthe Work pane, complete the following fields in the Fault Collection Policy area:
DescriptionName
Flappingoccurs when a fault is raised and cleared several times in rapid
succession.To prevent this, the system does not allow a fault to change
itsstate until this amount of time has elapsed since the last state change.
Ifthe condition reoccurs during the flapping interval, the fault returns
tothe active state. If the condition does not reoccur during the flapping
interval,the fault is cleared. What happens at that point depends on the
settingin the ClearAction field.
Enteran integer between 5 and 3,600. The default is 10.
FlappingInterval field
Theaction the system takes when a fault is cleared. This can be one of
thefollowing:
Retain—CiscoUCS Manager GUI displays the Lengthof time
toretain cleared faults section.
Delete—Thesystem immediately deletes allfault messages as
soonas they are marked as cleared.
ClearAction field
Lengthof Time to Retain Cleared Faults Section
Ifthe Clear Action fieldis set to Retain,this is thelength of timethe
systemretains a fault once it is marked as cleared. This can be one of
thefollowing:
Forever—Thesystem leaves all cleared fault messages on the
fabricinterconnect regardless of how long they have been in the
system.
other—CiscoUCS Manager GUI displays the dd:hh:mm:ss field.
RetentionInterval field
Thenumber of days, hours, minutes, and seconds that should pass before
thesystem deletes a clearedfault message.

Step 5 ClickSave Changes.
