Adding a WWPN Initiator to a WWPN Pool
AWWN pool can include only WWNNs or WWPNs in the ranges from 20:00:00:00:00:00:00:00 to
20:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FFor from 50:00:00:00:00:00:00:00to 5F:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF.All other
WWNranges are reserved. To ensure the uniqueness of the Cisco UCS WWNNs and WWPNs in the SAN
fabric,we recommend that you use thefollowing WWN prefix for allblocks in a pool:
20:00:00:25:B5:XX:XX:XX

Procedure
Step 1 Inthe Navigation pane, clickthe SAN tab.
Step 2 Inthe SAN tab, expandSAN >Pools >Organization_Name .
Step 3 Expandthe WWPN Pools node.
Step 4 Right-clickthe WWPN pool to which you want to add a WWPN initiator and select Create WWPN Initiator.
Step 5 Inthe Create WWPN Initiator dialog box, complete the following fields:
DescriptionName
TheWWN.WorldWide Name field
Thename of theWWPN initiator.
Thisname can be between 1 and 16 alphanumeric characters. You
cannotuse spaces or any special characters other than - (hyphen), _
(underscore),: (colon), and . (period), and you cannot change this name
afterthe object has beensaved.
Namefield
Auser-defined descriptionof the WWPN initiator.
Enterup to 256 characters. You can use any characters or spaces except
^(carat), \ (backslash),> (greater than), <(less than), ' (singlequote),
"(double quote), ` (accentmark), or = (equal sign).

Step 6 Ifyou wantto add aSAN boottarget, expand the Boot Target area and complete the following fields:
DescriptionName
TheWWPN that corresponds to the location of the boot image.BootTarget WWPN field
TheLUN that corresponds to the location of the boot image.BootTarget LUN field
Step 7 ClickOK.
