Virtual KVM ConsoleTheKVM console is an interface accessible from CIMC that emulates a direct keyboard, video, and mouse
(KVM)connection to the server. It allows you to connect to and control the server from a remote location,
andto map physical locations to virtual drives that can by accessed by the server during this KVM session.
TheKVM consolerequires JRE(Java RuntimeEnvironment) version 1.5.0 or higher.Important
KVM Tab
Thistab provides command line access to the server. The menu options available in this tab are described
below.
Virtual Media Tab
Insteadof using CD/DVD or floppy drives physically connected to the server, the KVM console uses virtual
media,which are actual disk drivesor disk image files that are mapped to virtual CD/DVD or floppy drives
onthe server. The Client View table displays the floppy images, floppy drives, CD/DVD drives, and ISO
imagesthat are availableto theserver.
DescriptionName
Ifthe check box in this column is checked, the associated disk drive or
imagefile can be accessed by the server. Clear the check box to
disconnectthe server from the drive or image file.
Eachdrive or image file can exist either on the users local computer or
onthe network, and each falls into one of three categories:
• VirtualCD/DVD
• Removable Media
• Floppy—This category includes USB keys or flash drives.
Youcan enable Virtual Media for one drive or image in each of the
threecategories, but you cannot virtualize multiple drives orimages in
thesame category.
Mappedcolumn
Ifchecked, the server cannot write to the Virtual Media device even if
thedevice has writecapability.
ReadOnly column
Displaysthe path to the device used by the server.Drivecolumn
