Before You Begin
Ifyou arecreating a boot policy that boots the server from a SAN LUN and you require reliable SAN
bootoperations, we recommend that you first remove all local disks from servers associated with a service
profilethat includes the bootpolicy.

Step 1 Clickthe down arrows to expand the vHBAs area.
Step 2 Clickthe Add SAN Boot link.
Step 3 Inthe Add SANBoot dialog box,complete the following fields,and click OK:
DescriptionName
Enterthe name of the vHBA you wantto use for the SAN boot.vHBAfield
Thiscan be one of the following:
Primary—Thefirst address defined for the associated boot device
class.A boot policy can only have one primaryLAN, SAN, or
iSCSIboot location.
Secondary—Thesecond address definedfor the associatedboot
deviceclass. Each boot policy can have only one secondary LAN
orSAN bootlocation.
Theuse of the terms primary or secondary boot devices does not imply
aboot order. The effective order of boot devices within the same device
classis determinedby PCIe bus scanorder.

Step 4 Ifthis vHBApoints to abootable SAN image, click the AddSAN Boot Target link and, in the Add SAN
BootTarget dialog box, complete the following fields, then click OK:
DescriptionName
TheLUN that corresponds to the location of the boot
image.
BootTarget LUN field
TheWWPN thatcorresponds to the locationof the
bootimage.
BootTarget WWPN field
