DescriptionName
Thiscan be one of the following local disk policy modes:
•NoLocal Storage—For a diskless server or a SAN only
configuration. If you select this option, you cannot associate any
serviceprofile which uses this policy with a server that has a local
disk.
•RAID0 Striped—Data is striped across all disks inthe array,
providingfast throughput. There is no data redundancy, and all
datais lost if any disk fails.
•RAID1 Mirrored—Data is written to two disks, providing
completedata redundancy if onedisk fails. The maximumarray
sizeis equal to the available space on the smaller of the two drives.
•AnyConfiguration—For aserver configuration that carries
forwardthe localdisk configuration without anychanges.
•NoRAID—For aserver configurationthat removes the RAID
andleaves the disk MBR and payload unaltered.
•RAID5 StripedParity—Data is striped across all disks in the
array.Part of the capacity of each disk stores parity information
thatcan be used to reconstruct data if a disk fails. RAID 5 provides
gooddata throughput for applications with high read request rates.
•RAID6 Striped Dual Parity—Data is striped across all disks in
thearray and two parity disks are used to provide protection against
thefailure of up to two physical disks. In each row of data blocks,
twosets of paritydata are stored.
•RAID10Mirrored and Striped— RAID 10 uses mirrored pairs
ofdisks to provide complete data redundancy and high throughput
rates.
Ifyou chooseNo RAID and you apply thispolicy to a server
thatalready has an operatingsystem with RAID storage
configured, the system does not remove the disk contents.
Therefore, there may be no visible differences on the server
afteryou apply the No RAID mode. Thiscan lead to a
mismatchbetween the RAID configuration in the policy and
theactual disk configuration shown in the Inventory >Storage
tabfor the server.
Tomake sure that any previous RAID configuration
informationis removed from a disk, apply a scrub policy that
removesall disk information after you apply the No RAID
configurationmode.
