RAS Memory BIOS Settings
Thefollowing table lists the RAS memory BIOS settingsthat you can configure through a BIOS policy or
thedefault BIOS settings:
DescriptionName
Howthe memory reliability, availability, and serviceability
(RAS)is configured for the server. This can be one of the
following:
maximumperformance—System performance is
optimized.
mirroring—Systemreliability is optimized by using half
thesystem memory as backup.
lockstep—Ifthe DIMM pairs in the server have an
identicaltype, size, and organization and are populated
acrossthe SMI channels,you canenable lockstep mode
tominimize memory accesslatency and providebetter
performance.Lockstep is enabled bydefault for B440
servers.
sparing—Systemreliability is enhanced with a degree of
memoryredundancy while making more memory available
tothe operating system than mirroring.
PlatformDefault—The BIOS uses the value for this
attributecontained in the BIOS defaults for the server type
andvendor.
MemoryRAS Config
Whetherthe BIOS supports NUMA. This can be one of the
following:
disabled—TheBIOS does not support NUMA.
enabled—TheBIOS includes the ACPI tablesthat are
requiredfor NUMA-aware operating systems. If you
enablethis option, thesystem must disable Inter-Socket
Memoryinterleaving on someplatforms.
PlatformDefault—The BIOS uses the value for this
attributecontained in the BIOS defaults for the server type
andvendor.
