Overview

This procedure applies to an Access Navigator with one or two Controller cards. The Access Navigator can hold two (redundant) Controller cards for time-slot interchange. In a redundant system, the standby Controller can be replaced without disrupting service. Then, by using a CLI command to switch the active Controller to standby, the other Controller can be replaced. In an Access Navigator with only one Controller card, the Controller can be replaced without disrupting service if the new Controller is installed before removing the old Controller.

Incompatible Software – This procedure contains Cautions to prevent accidental installation of Controller cards with incompatible software, which could disrupt service and alter provisioning settings. These cautions can be ignored if the final installation provides two Controller cards with identical or compatible software.

Alarm and Log Events – During the replacement process, if two Controller cards are installed with incompatible software, the Access Navigator will produce a minor alarm and the event log will contain an entry stating that one of the Controllers is Incompatible. This message is normal and can be ignored if the final installation provides two Controller cards with identical or compatible software.
