￿Hardware configuration: Modular construction with plug-in cards includes built-in circuit and network testing and fuse-less protection (see Figure 2-4).

￿Software configuration: Operating system is stored in upgradeable flash memory. Configuration and provisioning data are stored in nonvolatile RAM, protected from power interruptions.
