Set SNMP Location

Purpose: Assigns a system location (sysLocation) to the Access Navigator SNMP interface. This is a text description or code indicating the location of the network element. Codes such as the 11-character Telcordia (Bellcore) Common Language Location Identifier (CLLI) are often used to specify equipment locations. For example, the code DNVRCO1A201 could represent equipment located in Denver, Colorado, in equipment rack location 1A201.

Security: Level 2 (operator)

Syntax: set snmp location <"setting">

"setting"

The location is a text can be up to 255 characters long, and may

 

use any combination of letters and numbers. Settings must be

 

enclosed in quote marks.

 

 

Example: set snmp location "DNVRCO1A201"

Set SNMP Name

Purpose: Assigns an system name (sysName) to the Access Navigator SNMP interface for network management. This name or identification code is used to describe the network element.

Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) enables network operations centers (NOCs) to monitor and manage network elements across an internetwork. The Access Navigator supports SNMP through its Ethernet port. The following CLI commands are used to set up the Access Navigator for access by the carrier’s TCP/IP management network.
