Overview

NOTE: A SIMM (memory module) is required for software version 1.20 and higher.

This procedure applies to an Access Navigator with two (redundant) Controller cards. In a redundant system, the SIMM can be installed on the standby Controller without disrupting service. Then, by using a CLI command to switch the active Controller to standby, a SIMM can be installed on the other Controller.

To prevent service disruptions in an unprotected system with only one Controller card, another Controller with compatible software can be installed temporarily (see Install Redundant Controller Card on page 6-49). The temporary Controller is switched to active mode before removing the original Controller for SIMM installation using this procedure. After installation, the original Controller is switched to active mode before removing the temporary Controller.
