Overview

Xmodem Requirements

The Controller update software file must be located on a compact disk (CD), hard drive, or file server accessible by the craft terminal or management computer through a file name or path name. File transfers are accomplished using Xmodem protocol, which is supported by most terminal emulation programs, such as Microsoft HyperTerminal. Using an RS-232 management session, the operator sends a CLI “load xmodem” command to the Access Navigator. The operator then instructs the terminal program to send the update file. Updating the standby Controller will take about 45 minutes.

Event Log

During the software update process, the two Controller cards will momentarily be operating with different software. The Access Navigator event log will contain an entry stating that one of the Controllers is Incompatible. This message is normal and can be ignored if both Controllers are updated with the same software.
