Provision GR-303 Service

Provision “Drop” DS1 Circuits to Subscriber

8.Set drop DS1 line buildout (lbo) to required CSU attenuation with the following command: set ds1 <n> lbo <setting>

Example:

set ds1 9 lbo 8

The setting is a number from 1 to 9, and is defined as follows:

Setting Definition

1Set DSX-1 equalization for 0-133 ft.

2Set DSX-1 equalization for 133-266 ft.

3Set DSX-1 equalization for 266-399 ft.

4Set DSX-1 equalization for 399-533 ft.

5Set DSX-1 equalization for 533-666 ft.

6Set CSU attenuation for LBO of 0dB.

7Set CSU attenuation for LBO of -7.5dB.

8Set CSU attenuation for LBO of -15dB.

9Set CSU attenuation for LBO of -22.5dB.

NOTE: When loop request detection is turned on, the Access Navigator will respond to T1.403 ESF bit patterned loop requests. Detection is normally turned on for “switch” and “groom” DS1s and turned off for “drop” DS1s. This allows higher level equipment to test the Access Navigator, and allows the Access Navigator to test remote CSUs such as Access Banks.

9.Set drop DS1 loop code detection to on or off with the following command: set ds1 <n> loopdetect <onoff>

Example:

set ds1 9 loopdetect off

NOTE: The Facility Data Link (FDL) channel is a 4 Kbps out-of-band communications link provided by the DS1 Extended Superframe (ESF) format. The factory default setting is “none”. This turns off loopback code detection and transmission over the FDL channel. The "t1403" setting enables detection and response to ANSI T1.403 bit-patterned codes. A switch DS1 used for GR-303 voice traffic does not use FDL, so the FDL protocol must be set to “none”.

GR-303 to TR-08 Translation for a drop DS1 must use “slc96” FDL protocol for Shelf A and “none” for Shelf B, C, and D. A remote Access Bank I/TR-08 can operate as Shelf A, B, C, or D. An Access Bank II requiring TR-08 translation must operate as Shelf B, C, or D.

10.Set drop DS1 FDL protocol to none, SLC-96, or T1.403 with the following command:

set ds1 <n> fdl <noneslc96t1403>

Example:

set ds1

9 fdl none

Example:

set ds1

12 fdl t1403
