Set Ethernet IP Address

Purpose: Configures Ethernet settings for Telnet and SNMP. If you are not going to use the Ethernet port, do not make any electrical connections to it. Ethernet functions can only be provisioned through an RS-232 management session, since you must set up the IP address. After establishing a Telnet session, you can change the settings.

NOTE: If you change the IP address via Telnet, you will lose the IP connection. The session will remain in effect for 2 hours while it times out.

Security: Level 2 (operator)

Syntax: set ethernet ip address <address> <mask>

Field

address

Description

Each Access Navigator on the same Ethernet network must have a unique static Internet Protocol (IP) address. IP addresses have the format xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, where each xxx is a decimal number between 0 and 255. For example, 192.168.0.123 is a valid IP address. Note that the address contains only three periods, one between each of the four numbers. If the Ethernet interface is not used, type none for the IP address.
