260AP Commands

Usage High bias is preferred over low bias. Bias applies only to WSSs that are indirectly attached to the AP through an intermediate Layer 2 or Layer 3 network. An AP always attempts to boot on AP port 1 first, and if a WSS is directly attached on AP port 1, the AP always boots from it.

If AP port 1 is indirectly connected to WSSs through the network, the AP boots from the switch with the high bias for the AP. If the bias for all connections is the same, the AP selects the switch that has the greatest capacity to add more active APs. For example, if an AP is dual homed to two 2380 switches, and one of the switches has 50 active APs while the other switch has 60 active APs, the new AP selects the switch that has only 50 active APs.

If the boot request on AP port 1 fails, the AP attempts to boot over its port 2, using the same process described above.

AP selection of a WSS is sticky. After an AP selects a WSS to boot from, the AP continues to use that switch for its active data link even if another switch configured with high bias for the AP becomes available.

The following command changes the bias for a AP to low:

WSS# set ap 1 bias low

success: change accepted.

set ap blink

Enables or disables LED blink mode on an AP to make it easy to identify. When blink mode is enabled on AP-xxxmodels, the health and radio LEDs alternately blink green and amber. When blink mode is enabled on an AP2750, the 11a LED blinks on and off. By default, blink mode is disabled.

Syntax set {ap port-list ap {ap-num auto}} blink {enable disable}

ap port-list

List of ports connected to the APs on which to turn blink mode on or off.

ap ap-num

Number of a AP on which to turn blink mode on or off.

ap auto

Configures blink mode for the AP configuration profile. (See set ap auto

on page 245.)

enable

Enables blink mode.

disable

Disables blink mode.

Defaults LED blink mode is disabled by default.

Access Enabled.
