Functional Notes
If ip unnumbered is enabled on an interface, all IP traffic from the interface will use a source IP address
taken from the specified interface. For example, specifying ip unnumbered eth 0/1 while in the PPP
Interface Configuration mod e confi gur es the PPP inter face to use the IP a ddr ess assigned to th e Ethe rnet
interface for all IP processing. In addition, the AOS uses the specified interface information when sending
route updates over the unnumbered interface. Static routes may either use the interface name (ppp 1) or
the far-end address (if it will be discovered).
Usage Examples
The following example configures the PPP interface (labeled ppp 1) to use the IP address assigned to the
Ethernet interface (eth 0/1):
(config)#interface ppp 1
(config-ppp 1)#ip unnumbered eth 0/1
