Chapter 4 Managi ng Chassis TCP S tatus
Active OpensThe number of time s TCP co nnec tio ns have made a direct transi ti on to the SYN- SEN T
state from the CLOSED state.
Establishment ResetsThe number of times TC P connecti ons have made a dire ct transi tion to th e
CLOSED state from either the ESTABLISHED state or the CLOSE-WAIT state.
Input Segm en tsT he t o tal n umb er o f s egmen ts re ceived, inc ludi ng tho s e re c eived in e rro r. This c ount
includes segments received on currently established connections.
Retransmitted SegmentsThe total number of segments retransmitted - that is, the number of TCP
segments transmitted containing one or more previously transmitted octets.
Attempts FailedThe number of t imes TCP c onnections have made a direct t ransition to the CLOSED
state f rom e it her t he SY N-SEN T or the SYN-RCV D st ate pl us th e numbe r of t ime s TC P co nne ction s
have made a direct transition to the LISTEN state from the SYN-RCVD state.
Maximum TCP ConnectionsThe limit on the total number of TCP connections the entity can support.
In entities where the maximum number of connections is dynamic, this object contains the value of -1.
Maximum Retransmission TimeoutThe maximum value permitted by a TCP implementation for the
retransmission timeout measured in milliseconds.
Passi ve OpensThe number of times TCP co nnections ha ve made a d irect transi tion to the SYN-RCVD
state from the LISTEN state.
Output Reset sThe nu mbe r of T CP s egmen ts se nt c on taini ng t he R S T fl ag.
Output Segment sThe total number of segmen ts sent, incl uding tho se on curren t connec tions but
excluding th ose containi ng only retra nsmit ted octets.
Input ErrorsThe total number of segments received in error (e.g., bad TCP checksums).

TCP Connections Tab

The TC P Connection s tab displa ys informat ion from th e TCP Connec tion Table. The TCP Conne ction
T able contains information specific to the TCP connections. This T ab contains a Connection T able area
that contains the following fields:

Connections Table

Local PortDispla ys the local p ort number for the TCP con nection. It can be an y inte ger bet ween 0 and
65535.
Local IP A ddr ess Displays the local IP address for the TCP connection. If the TCP connection is in a
listening state that is willing to accept connections for any IP interface associated with the node, then
the value used and hence displayed will be 0.0.0.0
Remote Port Displays the remote port number for the TCP connection. It can be any integer between
0 and 6553 5.
Remote IP Add ressD is play s th e r emo te IP addr ess fo r the TC P c onn ect ion.
Connection StateDisplays the current state of the TCP connection.
