Chapter 12 Managing ATM Connecti ons Managing ATM QoS Profiles

ATM QoS Profiles Configuration WindowDetailed Description

The ATM QoS Profiles Configuration w indow displays two tabs: Profile and RxTx Parameters.

Profile Tab

The Profile tab contains the following fields:
Profile TypeEnter the type of profile you are creating. This is the level of service, for example, gold
service or bronz e serv ice .
Profile DescriptionEnter a description for this profile. Use the horizontal and vertical scroll tools to
view text not displa yed in the window.

RxTx Parameters Tab

It is possi ble to ch oose a Serv ice Category that is not supp orted , fo r example, ubr. However, this will be
detected when an attempt is made to create the connection on the device & the operator informed. Also,
Transmit & Receive are applicable to SVCs. Only Transmit is ap plicable for PVCs. The RxTx
Param eters tab contains the Receive and Transmit Parameters for the selected ATM QoS profile.
The RxTx Parameters tab displays three areas: Category , Recei ve Parameters (applicable on the EM only
for SVCs) , and Transmi t Parameter s.

Category

The Ca tegory ar ea co ntains on e field, as fo llows:
QoSService category of the selected QoS profile.

Transmit Parameter s

The Transmit Parameters area contains the following fields:
CLP (Cell Loss Priority)Not applicabl e to Cisco 12000 /10720 Rout er Manage r.
SCR (Sustainable Cell Rate)Maximum sustained-cell-rate (scr) traffic parameter th at is allowed for
connections.
PCR (Peak Cell Ra te)Maximum transmitting rate of cells.
MCR (Minimum Cell Ra te)Lowest ac cept abl e t ra nsmi ttin g rat e ( spe cified in ce ll s p er sec ond) fo r
connections.
MBS (Maximum Burst Cell Size)Maximum bu rst cell size permitted by cells of connections.
CDVT (Cell Delay Variation Tolerance)Cell delay variation estimated to be experienced by cells of
connections.
