Chapter 14 Routing BGP Address Family Configuration

AF-Network Tab—Detailed Description
The AF -Network t ab displays a si ngle area : Network In format ion
Network Information
Network Addre ss—An IP address prefix in the Network Layer Reachability Information field. This
object is an IP address containing the prefix with the length specified by the Prefix Len attribute. Any
bits beyond the length specified by Network Mask attribute are zeroed.
Prefix Len—Length in bits of the IP address prefix in the network layer reachability information field.
Path Origin—The ultimate origin of the network path information.
Nex t Hop Ip Ad dr ess—T he address of th e borde r route r that should be used for the destina tio n netw or k.
Metric—This metric is used to discriminate between multiple exit points to an adjacent autonomous
number. A value of -1 indicates the absence of this attribute.
Degree of Prefer ence—The originating BGP4 speaker's degree of preference for an advertised route. A
value of -1 indicates the absence of this attribute.
Weightage—Specifies the BGP weight for the routing table.
Best Route—Specif ies wheth er the netw ork path is th e best po ssib le rou te. When set to tru e, it ind icates
that the network path is the best route for the router.
Action
Add/Remove AF Network—Cl icking on the “Add/Remove AF Network” opens the BGP Address
Family - Network Configuration window.
BGP Address Family—Network Configuration
The BGP Add ress Family - Network Configur ation window allows the user to ad d or remove network
paths for BGP addr ess fami lies . To configure a Ne twork p ath fo r an add re ss family, pro cee d as fo llows:
Step 1 Open the BGP Address-Family Configuration window. See “Viewin g the AF- Gen eral Tab on the BGP
Address- Family Co nfigurat ion Window” section on page 14 -27 for fu rther de tails. Cl ick on the
AF-N etwork Tab.
Step 2 Choose a chassis and the address family from the left side of the window.
Note You can choose multiple chassis and address families (from the list provided at the left side of
the wi ndow) whic h al lows you to laun ch the B GP A ddress Fami ly - Ne twork Con figurat ion
window for the selected chassis.
Step 3 Click on t he Add/ Remov e AF Netw ork button t o open the BGP Addre ss F amily - Netwo rk Configuration
window.
