Chapter 8 Interface Configuration Generic Interface Configuration
To configure and commission a selected interface, follow these steps:
Step 1 Open the Generic Interface Configuration window. See Viewing the Generic Interface Configuration

Step 2 Choose a Chassis, Module and Interface from the lists displayed at the left of the window.
Step 3 Configure the para meter s displayed in th e Configurati on tab, as requi red.
Step 4 Click Commission whe n the s tatus i s Deco mmis sio ned. T he stat us of the sele cte d inter face ap pear s at
the bottom left-hand-corner of the window. The interface is now commissioned and its state changes to
Commissioning and t h en to Normal or Errored state depending on whether the interface is active or
not.
Step 5 Click Save to save any changes.
Note You have now commissioned the selected interface. Yo u should now proceed to the app ropriate
interface configuration window section in this chapter to configure specific interface attributes.
For example, the AT M Interface Configura tion wind ow allows you to configur e ATM specific
attributes for a selected ATM interface.

Decommissio ning an Interfa ce

To decommission an interface, follow these steps:
Step 1 Open the Generic Interface Configuration window. See Viewing the Generic Interface Configuration

Step 2 Choose a Chassis, Module and Interfac e from the lists displayed at the left of the window.
Step 3 Click Decommission. The status of the selected interface appears at the bottom left-hand-corner of the
window. The interface is now decommissioned and its state changes to Decommissioned.
Step 4 Click Save to save any changes.

The Con figura tion tab (see Figure 8-1 on page 8-4) contains two areas: Configurable Parameters, and
Actions.

The Configurable Parameters area contains the following fields:
AliasName for th e interface, as specified by the network ma nager.
