Naming Convention for the Uploaded Connection Objects

The ATM Co nne ctio n U plo ad qu er ies the device for t he VPI a nd VC I value s of th e PVCs thr oug h th e
MIBs and simultaneously, it telnets to the device to query the names of the PVCs for creating the
connection objects in the EM. Hence, if the management passwords are not configured in the EM, then
the name s for t he co nne ction ob jec ts c anno t be r etr ieved by the EM.

Configuring the Management password information, or
Without co nfiguring the Ma nagement password inf ormatio n.

Configuring the Management Password Information

When the Management password information is set, the naming convention followed for the PVCs is
different. In this scenario, if any PVC is created in the device, it is represented in the EM in accordance
with the value set in the ma nage ment infor mat ion w indow. For example , for a na m ed PVC, ciscoPV C1
and for a n unnam ed PV C, i t wou ld b e di spla yed as VC L_7-0 _30 .75

Without configuring the Management Password Information

When an ATM Connection upload is initiated, all the connections in the device are uploaded to the EM
and th e PVCs wo uld be name d as V CL _int erfac e_vpi .vc i (ex: VC L_7 -0_ 30. 75). In thi s c ase, th e PV C
names are ignor ed , if any PVCs ar e crea ted with th e name sp ecified i n the device.
Note All the PVCs are represented by this convention in the EM.
