CAR Policy Configuration Window—Detailed Description
The CAR Policy Configuration displays a single CAR Policy Configuration tab.
CAR Policy Configuration Tab
The CAR Policy Configuration tab displays four tabs: CAR Parameters, Access List Choice, Conform
Action, and Exceed Action.
CAR Parameter s
The CAR Parameters area contains the following fields:
Traffic Direction—Ch oose e it her inco mi ng (i n put) or out going (o utpu t) t raffic.
Ave rag e Tr ans missi on Rat e—Norma l trans mission ra te based on a long t erm average in bps.
Norm al Burs t Size (i n bytes)—Bytes allowed in a burst before some packets will exceed the rate limit.
Larger bursts are more likely to ex ceed th e rate limit.
Maximum Burst Size (in bytes)—Bytes allowed in a burst before all packets will exceed the rate limit.
This value sh oul d be g reat er th an o r e qu al to t he nor mal burst si ze.
Access List Choice
The Access List Choice area contains the following fields:
With Access List—Choose yes t o appl y a se lec ted ac cess list t o the sele cte d C AR policy; ch oose No if
you do not want to apply an access list to the selected CAR policy.
Available Access List—Pane that lists all created access lists.
Actions—Contains two arrow buttons to move access lists between the available access list and the
required access list.
Required Acce ss List—Pane that lists all access lists, which are required to be associated with the
selected CAR policy.
Conform A ction
The Con form Acti on area co ntain s the following fields:
Continue—Evaluate the next rate-limit com mand.
Drop—Choose to drop the packet or no t.
Transmit—Choose to transmit the packet or not.
Set Prec. To X and Continue—(n umber s 0 -7) Set prec e denc e t o an i nteger a nd co ntinue .
Set Prec. To X and Transmit—(numbers 0-7 ) Set prec edence to an integer and transm it.
