Chapter 10 Interface Performance
Ethernet Interface Performance
Step 2 Choose a Chassis, Module, and Eth ernet I nt er fa ce fro m the list boxes displ ayed at th e left of the
window. The performance information for the selected interface appears.
Ethernet Interface Performance Window—Detailed Description
The Ethe rnet Interfa ce Perf ormanc e tab (see Figure 10-13 o n p ag e 10-19) displays two areas: General
Statistics and Collision Statistics.
General Statistics
The General Statistics area displays the following statistics:
Multiple Collision Frames—Cou nt of frames transmitted across an interface where more than one
collision exists.
Frame Check Sequence Errors—C ount of Frame s rece ived with Fram e Chec k Seq uence Error statu s.
Alignment Error—Count of Frames received with alignment errors.
Internal MAC T ransmit Errors—Count of frames transmitted that failed due to an external transmit er ror .
Deferred T ransmissions—Number of f irst transmissions att empts delayed bec ause the medium was bu sy .
Frames Too Long—Number of frames transmitted, where the size of the frames are larger than the
permis sible fra me size.
Carrie r Sense E rrors—Number of times the carrier sense was lost while transferring frames.
Late Collisions—Number of collisions detected on the interface after the transmission of a packet.
Signal Quality Errors (SQE)—Count of SQE error messages generated by the interface.
Single Collision Frames—Count of fram es transm itted ac ross an int erface with one col lision .
Excessive Co llisions—Number of times transmission failed due to excessive collision.
Intern al M AC Receive Erro rs —Count of frames transmitted that failed due to an internal MAC receive
error.
Collision Statistics
The Collision Statistics area displays the following statistics:
Collision Count—Number of collisions per frame on a particular interface
Collision Frequency—The correspond ing count of frames fo r the specified number of collisions.
