Chapter 7 Interface Profiles
Creating a POS I nterface Profile
Encapsulation—Allows you to select HDLC, PPP or FRAME RELAY encapsulation type. The default
value is HDLC.
Cyclic Redun dancy Check—A llows you to selec t a n option f or cyclic redu nda ncy che ck. Cyc li c
redunda ncy che ck b asic ally c onsist s o f 16 or 32 bit verification c ode w h ich has t o be s am e at t he both
the transmitting and receiving to ensure the packets sent are received in full without loss of data. By
default it is 32 bit code.
SONET Ov erh ead
The SO NET O verhead a rea a llows yo u to configur e t he f ol lowing in forma ti on:
Path Signal Identifier—Allows you to se t the p ath signa l i den tifier. Perm issib le values ra nge fr om 0 to
255.
Section Tr ace Byte—Allows you to set the secti on trace byte. Permissib le values are 0 to 255.
Payload Pointer Byte—Allows you to sele ct an o pti on for p ay load p oint er byt e fr om the dr op down
menu. Per missi ble values ran ge fr om 0 to 3.

The Alarm Reporting & Threshold area allows you to configure the following information:
