1. The first deployment stage is to manually deploy a Generic (Site) object. A Site object can be looked
upon as a c onta iner obj ect whe re you can de ploy fur ther o bj ects t h at r epre se nt t he
Cisco 12000/ 10720 Route r chassis, lin e cards and inte rfaces contai ned within the chassis. See

2. The second deployment stage is at the chassis level. The Ci sco 12000/10720 Router chassis can be
auto di scovered or manual ly depl oyed. See IP Auto Discovery of the C isco Ch assis section on
page 3-19 or the Ma nually Depl oying a Cisco 12000 /10720 Cha ssis se cti on on pa ge 3-2 0 for
furthe r details .
Note You can pre -depl oy objects (that is, manua lly pred eploy objec ts) before th e Cisco har dware
arrives on-site . S ee Pre-deployment section on page 3 -58 for furthe r detail s.
3. The third de ployment stage is at subchassis level. This involves either subc hassis discovery or
deploying subchassis objects (modules) manually . See Commissioning and Subchassis Discovery
section on page 3-26 or the Manually Deploying Modules section on page 3-30 for further details.

Manually Deploying a Generic Site Object

Generic obj ects are non-tec hno logy spe cific objec ts. Whe n deployi ng a gene ric object , the in fo rmati on

Table 3-1 displays a list of gen eric object s that can be deployed using Cisc o 12000/10 720 Router
Manager.
