Reparenting VLAN s and VLAN Sub-Interfaces

After the VL AN synchron izati on process is comp lete d, all the VLAN objects and their corr espondi ng
sub-inter face ob jec ts a re pl ac ed un de r a si ngle doma in c al led the De faultDoma in. Repa re nting a llows
you to re loc ate a V L AN obje ct un der a dom ain or a su b-i nte rface o bjec t u nde r a V LAN as pe r th e
requirem ent s.
Caution It is strongl y recomm ende d that the use r does not move any VLAN rela ted objec ts out of VLAN View.
This c ould re sult i n unexpec te d b ehavior.
Reparent ing is basic ally used to reloc ate the V LAN and sub-i nterface objects unde r different doma ins
after sy nc hro nizat ion.
Note To repar ent a sub-interface object under a VLAN, it is mandatory that the vlan id of the parent VLAN
object should be identical. The VLAN object must be placed under a different domain.
For example: Say, yo u have deployed two do mai ns, D 1 and D 2. D 1 has a VLAN ob ject V1 wit h
sub-inte rf ace E1 placed u nder it and D2 ha s a VLAN object V2. It will not be possib le to place E1 from
domain D1 under V2 in domain D2 as the VLAN ids of the VLAN objects are different. But, if a VLAN
object is d eploye d in D 2 having id a s V1, it woul d be po ssibl e for y ou to p l ace sub -inte rfac e ob jec t E 1
under V1 in domainD2.
To reparent a VLAN object, proceed as follows:
Step 1 Right clic k on a VLAN object in the VLAN view and choose View Manipulation>Reparent
Object(s)... . The Reparent dialog can be launched from a VLAN or sub-interface object.
