Chapter 3 Getting S tar ted Deployment

User Named vs. Auto Named Module Deployment

When you deploy a module, you have two initial options:
To deploy an auto-named module
To dep loy a use r-named m odule
The user-named option allows you to name the module as you like. For example, if you have a specific
naming sche me y ou want to use, then se lect th e user-name d opt ion .
The au to-n amed option as signs an auto -gen erate d name to the mo dule, w ith the slot numbe r appe nded
to th e name . For ex ample , if you deplo yed an aut o-name d ATM line card i n slo t 5, the name g iv e n woul d
be A5. This optio n is most useful whe n you have numer ous line cards of t he same type t o deploy.
Howeve r, the line cards must be deployed in sequence within the slots. For example, if you wanted to
deploy five AT M line c ards in sl o ts 1 t o 5, t hen t he au to -name d op tion wo uld be ide al.
