Because the chassis i s the highest -level object, all objec ts under th e chassis a re commissi oned as well
when you co mmis sion the ch assis. On e level down, if you comm ission a GRP, you commi ssion all
physical objects underneath that level. If you comm ission a li ne card, you commission all interfac es on
that lin e card, a nd so on. However, note that befo re you can co mmis sion any module within a c hassis ,
the chassis ob ject itself m ust be commissione d. T his means that yo u m ust run su bchassis discovery by
commi ssioning the cha ssis b efore you c an c om mission or dec ommi ssion any ind ividual o bjects u nde r
the chassis. If you do not want to actively manage all objects within the chassis, you can dec ommission
the objec ts you are not re ady to man age aft er commi ssioning the chassis.

Commissioning a Chassis

When you commission a c hassis, subc hassis discovery begins automatically. Subchassis d iscovery
discovers and com missions all objects within the chassis. Commissioning automatically s tarts active
manageme nt (such as polling) on the c hassis and all co mmissio ned object s within the cha ssis.
To commission a chassis, proc eed as fo llows:
