Global Configuration Mode Command Set

 

 

ip domain-name <name>

Use the ip domain-namecommand to define a default IP domain name to be used by the Secure Router OS to resolve host names. Use the no form of this command to disable this function.

Syntax Description

<name>

Default IP domain name used to resolve unqualified host names. Do not include

 

the initial period that separates the unresolved name from the default domain

 

name.

Default Values

By default, this command is disabled.

Functional Notes

Use the ip domain-namecommand to set a default name which will be used to complete any IP host name that is invalid (i.e., any name that is not recognized by the name-server). When this command is enabled, any IP host name that is not initially recognized will have the ip domain-nameappended to it and the request will be resent.

Usage Examples

The following example defines procurve as the default domain name:

(config)#ip domain-name procurve
