Global Configuration Mode Command Set

 

 

logging forwarding source-interface

Use the logging forwarding source-interfacecommand to configure the specified interface’s IP address as the source IP address for the syslog server to use when logging events. Use the no form of this command if you do not wish to override the normal source IP address.

Syntax Description

<interface>

Enter the interface to be used as the source IP address for event log traffic.

Default Values

No default value is necessary for this command.

Functional Notes

This command allows you to override the sender field in the IP packet. If you have multiple interfaces in your unit, changing the sender tells the receiver where to send replies. This functionality can also be used to allow packets to get through firewalls that would normally block the flow.

Usage Examples

configures the unit to use the loopback 1 interface as the source IP for event log traffic:

(config)#logging forwarding source-interface loopback 1
