SROS Command Line Interface Reference Guide Frame Relay Sub-Interface Config Command Set

ip address dhcp

Use the ip address dhcp command to use Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) to obtain an address on the interface. Use the no form of this command to remove a configured IP address (using DHCP) and disable DHCP operation on the interface.

ip address dhcp {client-id [<interface> <identifier>] hostname “<string>” }

Syntax Description

client-id

Optional. Specifies the client identifier used when obtaining an IP address

from a DHCP server.

<interface>

Specifying an interface defines the client identifier as the hexadecimal MAC

address of the specified interface (including a hexadecimal number added to

the front of the MAC address to identify the media type).

For example, specifying the client-id ethernet 0/1 (where the Ethernet

interface has a MAC address of d217.0491.1150) defines the client identifier

as 01:d2:17:04:91:11:50 (where 01 defines the media type as Ethernet).

Refer to hardware-address<hardware-address> <type> on page 283 for a

detailed listing of media types.

<identifier>

Specifies a custom client-identifier using a text string (that is converted to a

hexadecimal equivalent) or 7 to 28 hexadecimal numbers (with colon

delimiters).

For example, a custom client identifier of 0f:ff:ff:ff:ff:51:04:99:a1 may be

entered using the <identifier> option.

host-name

Optional. Specifies a text string (to override the global router name) to use as

the name in the DHCP option 12 field.

“<string>”

String (encased in quotation marks) of up to 35 characters to use as the

name of the host for DHCP operation.

no-default-route

Keyword used to specify that the OS not install the default-route obtained via

DHCP.

no-domain-name

Keyword used to specify that the OS not install the domain-name obtained via

DHCP.

no-nameservers

Keyword used to specify that the OS not install the DNS servers obtained via

DHCP.
