b. TN754B (4-wire, A-law/Mu-law selectable)
Downloadable Terminal Parameters
The following parameters are download ed to programmab le terminals:
Nonvolatile Memory
Nonvolatile memory is used to store download able parameters in p rogrammable
terminals. Therefore, once the terminal has been d ownloaded, it is not b e
necessary to download it again, even if power is removed from th e terminal.
If the nonvolatile memory fails with power still p resent, the terminal reverts to its
default factory settings except for its A-law/mu-law comp anding settings which
are stored in RAM. If power is removed after the nonvolatile memory fails, the
terminal reverts to its factory d efault settings.
Mu-law companding is assigned as a defa ult setting at the factory, so for
domestic use, a prog rammable terminal can p lace calls, even thoug h it has not
been downloaded from the PBX.
Download Actions
There are several different scenarios that cause a t erminal to be download ed. As
described b elow, these can occur as p art of background maintenance activity or
on demand from the System Acce ss Terminal or from a station.
