SYS-LINK (System Links)
System Links are packet links that originate at the Packet Interface board and
traverse various hardware compon ents to specific end points. The hardware
components involved on the forward and reverse routes can b e different,
depending u pon the configuration and switch administration. This software
release supports the following link types:

Recording System Link Events

The system links maintenance object is us ed to record all errors encount ered on
the links. Most of these events are not extra-ordinary, unless they occ ur with an
alarming frequency. The events are logged as they occur, so as to leave a tra il
helping analyze abnor mal behavior exhibited b y the endpoints attac hed to the
links or the links themselves.
When a link goes down, a WARNING alarm is raised immediately. Other alarming
conditions which d o not cause the link to go d own also get a WARNING alarm.

Identifying a System Link

In order to trace problems as sociated with a system link, it is nec essary to find its
location. A PRI link can be uniquely id entified by its end points.

Display Errors/Alarms

The output of the display errors or display alarm commands shows the location
of the syste m link for e ntrie s with a Main tenan ce N ame of SYS-LINK . You ca n
restrict the scope of the outp ut of these commands b y specifying c ategory
sys-link on the input form. The link type is listed under the Alt Name field.

List sys-link

The command list sys-link lists all system links present in the system. The
location of the system link and the link type are displayed for each link.
