PSTN fallback feature
The Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) fallback feature is available on
the Internet trunk applic ation software, which periodi cally pings the remote
destinations that the software calls. When the far end returns a poor response
time to the ping, DEFINITY’s ARS or AAR network routing patterns bypass those
ports and direc t the call to another port, typ ically on a PSTN trunk.
When the remote destinations show accep table response times to sub sequent
pings, the correspo nding ports are returned to “idle,” where they are avail able for
service.
Cabinet configuration
Because of overheating, the TN802 circ uit pack should not be placed directly
above or below another MAPD circ uit pack.
UPS protection
Because Windows NT is more vulnerable to damag e from a power interruption
than the DEFINITY ECS, uninterrupted power sup ply (UPS) protection is strongly
recommended for systems usi ng the TN802 circuit pac k.
