When the UDS1 Interface circuit pac k detects a Red alarm, the c ircuit pack will
transmit a Yellow alarm to the remote DS1 endpoint and send a RED ALARM
message to the maintenance software. After the Red alarm is confirmed, the
maintenance software places all t runks or ports of the circuit p ack into the
out-of-service state. The inquiry test will b e run every 10 minutes until the Red
alarm is cleared.
When the Red alarm is cleared, the UDS1 Interface c ircuit pack will stop
transmitting the Yellow alarm to the remote DS1 endpoint. The maintenance
software restores all trunks or ports of the UDS1 Interface c ircuit pack to the
service state before the Red alarm oc curs.
Loss of Multiframe Alarm
If the UDS1 Interface circuit p ack is administered using DMI-BOS signaling, the
UDS1 Interface circuit pac k raises a Loss of Multiframe Alarm (LMA) when it
cannot interpret the incoming signaling bits to synchronize to the multiframe
pattern received in the 24t h channel. Once the UDS1 Interface c ircuit pack
detects an LMA, the circ uit pack will transmit a Remote Multiframe Alarm (RMA)
to the remote DS1 endpoint. Maintenance software hand les both Red alarm and
LMA alarm(s) using the same mechan ism.
